CUTS-Calcutta Resource Centre (CUTS-CRC) will organise a capacity building workshop on ‘Benefit Sharing and Prior Informed Consent’ under the Farmers’ Rights Programme (Phase-II), at Umsning, Meghalaya, on March 22, 2006.
The farmers of the region are expected to attend the meeting. There will be a group discussion on ‘Traditional Ways of Preserving Seeds’. This is an effort to sensitise the people on the issues and to strengthen their bargaining capacity in the question of sharing the benefits by any external entity from the natural resources and traditional knowledge.
