Internship Policy

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of the Internship Programme are:

  • To provide an opportunity to associate with organisation to gain work experience in an active learning and a dynamic environment.
  • To provide opportunities for new entrants with a view to acquire skills that would make them employable.
  • To assist students to obtain required practical experience and to complete their qualifications.
  • To provide the department with an opportunity to complete a database of prospective employees for future recruitment purposes.
  • To provide additional human resource to the organization to cover for short term requirements

Principles of Internship

This policy document is guided by the following principles:

  • Mentors are supposed to identify strategic areas upon which the internship should be implemented.
  • All interns should, upon appointment be made aware of their rights and obligations.
  • All centre heads will be expected to guide interns or assign a mentor to them from within their team throughout their period of engagement.

Procedure for Internship

Candidates are required to apply for internship to Human Resource Department with the following:

  • An application form has to be submitted in the prescribed format.
  • Reference letter from the university with the fact that they are in the process of acquiring their qualification.
  • The specific field for which the training is required/ Area of interest.
  • The duration of the programme.
  • A Non-refundable amount of Rs.5,000/- (Rs. Five Thousand Only) to be paid along with application form via cheque in the name of Consumer Unity and Trust Society, Jaipur.

If applicants satisfy the aforesaid criteria, the application will be forwarded to the relevant department for approval. Once approved, the applicant will be notified with a request to contact and complete the relevant formalities of joining as intern in respective department and a work plan will be prepared for his/her internship. Colleagues and Centre Heads may also refer candidates for internship. Even in those cases, the procedure mentioned above will have to be adhered to.

General Guidelines:

The objectives of the Internship Programme are:

  • An intern has to meet requirements of one component or project in CUTS in terms of mutual interest, skills and schedule.
  • The internship period will be of one to six months depending upon the need of the centre at a specific time or as mutually agreed between CUTS and the person concerned.
  • The office hours would be from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm. First and third Saturdays are non work days.
  • CUTS will NOT hold the responsibility of reserving accommodation for Intern students. S/he has to be responsible for all related costs, including accommodation, daily expense, and local travel during the internship.
  • CUTS will not provide any financial support during the internship.
  • The intern shall maintain decorum of the office environment including punctuality and general discipline
  • Interns are not entitled to any leave during the period of internship unless otherwise agreed. However, due consideration would be given to emergencies i.e. medical. The information should be provided to the mentor and HRD.
  • Inform absence well in advance.
  • If an intern is expected to travel for an assignment then the concerned department will take care of their expenses.
  • Submit an Internship Report on completion of internship.
  • Interns are encouraged to carry their laptop.
  • A feedback session will be conducted by HR with the intern and the mentor on completion of internship.
  • The name, contact information, details of the project worked on, final report and mentors comments on their report and future employability rating will be recorded in a database for future reference
  • The mentors will be expected to provide a rating on a candidate from a future employability view which will be recorded in the database.
  • The database will be shared with all Centre Heads for reference.
  • A certificate of completion of the internship will be provided to the intern at the end of the internship period.
