New Delhi, India, February 25, 2006
CUTS will organise a half-day seminar at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India, to share its assessment of the proposed Amendment to the Competition Act 2002, with a representative group of multiple stakeholders. It is expected that the ensuing debate on the various amendments proposed to the Competition Act 2002, would help in evolving a common understanding among the participants on the best way forward for an effective competition legislation in the country.
CUTS has done a research project, ‘competition regimes in the country’ that recommended the need for a comprehensive National Competition Policy for India to the government. In order to make both the competition law and the policy effective, CUTS has been engaged in extensive public consultations on this all-important issue. Academicians, practitioner, regulatory authority officials, civil society organisations (CSOs) and media representatives would be drawn to this seminar.
