National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) is the flagship campaign of the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India implemented since 1986. 2010 is the 25th year of NEAC. In Rajasthan, the Ministry has appointed CUTS as the Regional Resource Agency (RRA) to implementing and monitoring the campaign since 2006. This year the theme for campaign is ‘Climate Change’ and total three hundred fifty eight (358) organizations are participating in campaign including civil society organizations, educational institutions covering all 33 districts of Rajasthan.
Mr. Abhijeet Ghose, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt. of Rajasthan in his address as the chief guest, stated that consumers have key role in climate mitigation through sustainable consumption practices. He also told about the impacts of causes of climate change. Environmentalist, Dr. M.S Rathore, in the theme address on ‘Climate Change’ called upon the participating organisations to set examples for others by adopting environment friendly measures.
While making the introductory remarks Director CUTS International, Mr. George Cheriyan called up on the partner organisations to contribute in addressing the global challenge of climate change through concrete action at the grassroots.
NEAC team oriented the partner organisations about the activities to be conducted under the theme and issues.
