CUTS International (Consumer Unity & Trust Society) began its journey in 1983 in Rajasthan, from a rural development communication initiative, a wall newspaper Gram Gadar (Village Revolution). This monthly is published regularly and has been instrumental in providing a forum for the oppressed classes to get justice. On seeing Gram Gadar, Rubens Ricupero, the immediate past Secretary-General of UNCTAD observed: “It confirmed my view that often the simple lack of awareness lies at the root of so much misery”. CUTS CENTRES

CITEE: CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment, established in 1996, aims to be a high-level global standard institution for research and advocacy on multilateral trade and sustainable development issues.

CART: CUTS Centre for Consumer Action, Research & Training at Jaipur works towards enabling people, especially women and other disadvantaged groups of society, to assert their rights so that they can achieve the right to basic needs and sustainable development through a strong consumer movement.

CHD: CUTS Centre for Human Development, situated at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan seeks to empower rural people, especially women and disadvantaged groups of society through innovative strategies of social action.

C-CIER: CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment & Economic Regulation, Jaipur, established in 2003, aims to be a centre of excellence on regulatory issues. The centre has been created to give focused attention to our work on competition, investment and economic regulation.

CUTS CRC: CUTS Calcutta Resource Centre has a unique feature of working simultaneously on Consumer Safety and Grassroots Economic Development.

CUTS DRC: CUTS Delhi Resource Centre at New Delhi functions as the national advocacy centre of CUTS, other than acting as a support facility for other centres in India.

CUTS ARC: CUTS Africa Resource Centres at Lusaka, Zambia and Nairobi, Kenya functions as resource, coordination as well as networking centres to promote South-South co-operation on trade & development.

CUTS LRC: CUTS London Resource Centre at London function as the international advocacy centre of CUTS, other than acting as a support facility for other centres of CUTS. The Centre is working towards bridging the gap between the North and the South and it acts as a platform for the North-South dialogue.

CUTS HRC: CUTS Hanoi Resource Centre, established in 2007, functions as a resource coordination and networking centre of CUTS in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region.

CUTS GRC: CUTS Geneva Resource Centre has been established in Geneva, Switzerland in 2008 with a view to promote a pro-trade pro-equity southern NGO voice in the policy making circles working on trade and development in Geneva.

A Unique Initiative...

INCSOC: International Network of Civil Society Organisations on Competition was formed recently as a result of the crying need of several civil society organisations. The need was assessed under the 7-Up Project and the Network is an outcome of the same.

It aims to build a network of stakeholders of competition policy and law so that the competition regimes at the national level could be strengthened, and developed where absent.

Parliamentarians’ Forum on Economic Policy Issues has been formed at the behest of five Parliamentarians cutting across party lines to facilitate discussions on a periodic basis among MPs on the core economic policy issues reflected in and out of parliament and media. The forum is non-partisan and informal.

It is being hosted by the Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS), a non-profit making and a leading civil society organization dedicated to research and advocacy on basic ecnomic issues aimed towards economic development and consumer welfare, for more than two decades.
