Strengths

Opportunities

Threats

Strengths

1. Experience gained while working on the issues of trade and development at national, regional and international levels.

2. Young and energetic team, which is capable of assimilating issues and putting in a lot of hard work.

3. Only NGO in the South who is looking at the issues in proactive manners.

4. Good relationship with network partners, international NGOs, inter-governmental organisations etc.

Limitations

1. Unable to expand the activities to anglophone Africa by making a presence in the region.

2. Much more work needs to be done in the area of primary research and case studies.

3. Lack of a good legal cell that could understand the issues relating to international trade law.

4. The area of work is vast and often tempted to take on lot of issues at a time without putting proper attention to core issues.

Opportunities

1. The scope of work is huge and perpetual.

2. There is the possibility of expanding the programme activities to Africa and Latin America through networking and resource generation.

3. The programme is capable of challenging some basic issues relating to economic inequity prevailing in the world and thus taking up the issue of linkages between trade, development and poverty.

4. The possibility of establishing a strong link between different dimensions of work of the organisation: grassroots, national, regional, international.

Threats

1. Co-option by international NGOs, inter-governmental organisations etc.

2. The possibility of getting into the North-South debate and division on trade and development issues.
