A Report

The Panchayati Raj Empowerment Programme has been launched at CUTS Centre for Human Development (CUTS-CHD), Chittorgarh under ‘Panchayati Raj Institution Support & Mobilisation’ (PRISMO) programme, supported by Swiss Agency for Development & Co-operation (SDC).

The project was launched at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India on December 21, 2004. Amarjeet Kaur, Regional Co-ordinator, SDC; Amit Roy, Regional Facilitator, SDC; and George Cheriyan, Assistant Director, CUTS, along with other CUTS officials and networkers participated in the project’s launch.

The initial phase of the project will be implemented in nine panchayats of Chittorgarh, Bhadesar and Nimbahera blocks of Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan State.

The project aimed towards the functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions in line with the 73rd Constitutional amendment and expectations and the needs of the people. The project will extend support in implementation of the programmes by panchayats, focussing on people.
