The NRG-I meeting
in The Philippines took place on July 30, 2013 in Makati
City. The meeting was organised jointly with the country
partner Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS)
and Action for Economic Reforms (AER).
The meeting was attended by the NRG members constituted for
providing and advisory role for the project activities in The
Philippines. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the
Diagnostic Country Report (DCR) outline and its methodology
and to make it country specific.

place on July 24, 2013 in New Delhi, India. The meeting was
organised jointly with the country partner CUTS Institute for
Regulation and Competition (CIRC).
The meeting was attended by the NRG members constituted for
providing and advisory role for the project activities in
India. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the Diagnostic
Country Report (DCR) outline and its methodology and to make

"The Future of Global Trade Policy" at Commonwealth
Secretariat in London on July 15, 2013.
Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth
Secretary-General, chaired the session while special comments
were given by Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State
for International Development, Government of the UK. The
other panelists included Professor Alan Winters, Professor of
Economics, University of Sussex and Professor Jim Rollo,
Emeritus Professor (Law), University of Sussex.

National Trainings on ‘Climate, Food, Trade: Developing
Coherent Policies and Programmes’
June 24-July 31, 2013
In June and July, CUTS
International Geneva and Trapca will organise five training workshops in
East Africa on the theme “Climate, Food, Trade: Developing Coherent
Policies and Programmes”. This free training course leading to a merit
certificate has been designed to help key stakeholders of climate change,
food security and trade develop coherent programmes and policies cutting
across the three areas.

delivered by Mr. Pascal Lamy, Director General, WTO and Dr.
Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary General, UNCTAD on the
topics, "30 Years that have Changed the Face of World Trade"
and "Trade, Competition and Consumer Protection"
respectively at the WTO in Geneva on July 9, 2013.
Dr. Frederic
Jenny, Chairman, OECD Committee on Competition Law and
Policy chaired the session. CUTS Secretary General Pradeep S
Mehta welcomed the participants and Rashid S Kaukab proposed
the vote of thanks.
