Phase-I of the 7-Up Project (1^st September 2000 to 31^st August 2001) primarily dealt with the institutional framework for enforcing competition laws in project countries. A comprehensive questionnaire focusing on this aspect of the competition regime was framed and sent to the country partners for collecting information from the concerned persons.

Based on this field survey and survey of existing legislation, the country partners prepared the draft Phase-I Country Reports. These reports were discussed at the respective National Reference Group Meetings organised in the project countries.  The reports were also discussed at the Phase-I culmination meeting of the project held on 7-8^th September 2001 in Goa, India.  

These reports are being revised and would be finalised after incorporating the comments and suggestions of the project advisory committee and the core researcher of the Project. Followings are the current versions of these phase-I Country Reports.
